Mission
James Swan founded Investment Inspection on the premise that he wanted to provide the most professional, precise, and detailed Home Inspection service on Long Island. When James was shopping for homes with his family, he saw there were many home inspection services out there that were sub-par when it came to today's standards. The truth is...there are too many home inspectors who don't have the background or experience, and are in the business for all of the wrong reasons. James saw the need for quality, professional, and honest inspectors. It was his personal experiences as a home buyer that drove his mission to provide the best Home Inspection service built on integrity, reliability, honesty, and precision. He saw there were many inspectors who either didn't know what they were doing or were lazy and cut corners. Changing that soon became his primary focus.
Buying a home, especially on Long Island, is a BIG DEAL. With six and seven figure investments spanning for upwards of 30 years of your life, having an inspector that isn't up to speed with the modern home standards, or an inspector that cuts corners will only lead to massive liabilities and headaches. Remember, if things get missed or go unnoticed, it's you, the home buyer, that is stuck with the costly repairs after the deal is done. James has made it his top priority to find the issues before the deal is closed so that the issues are fixed by the seller and can also benefit you during negotiations. It is absolutely crucial to find a home inspector who is not only continually educated and has a solid background relative to the field, but also an inspector who is professional, precise, detailed, and thorough. James had a vision that not only addressed all of the vital needs of the home buyer, but also the traits and qualities of a respectable and trustworthy home inspector. James brought that vision to life when he created Investment Inspection home inspection service and he has not stopped striving to be Long Island's #1 trusted source for home and building inspections.

Background
James Swan has a true passion for building construction, renovations, and real estate. People often say "when you find a career that you love, you won't work a day in your life". That's exactly what James has found in his life and continues to pursue to this day.
Born and raised in Bohemia, NY, James is truly a "hometown" business owner who knows Long Island inside and out. He knows the challenges Long Island home buyers face and he can personally relate. You won't find a more personable and respecting person than James Swan. Honest and reliable, you will quickly feel at ease that you made the right choice.
Starting at the age of 16, James got his first taste of the construction and renovation world when he worked under 2 retired NYPD officers who owned a siding and gutter company. James worked his weekends and summers while finishing up High School, mastering the craft of vinyl siding and seamless gutter fabrication and installation.
After graduating High School, James attended college at SUNY Oswego College in upstate New York. While attending college, he worked for a general contractor in the upstate New York region where he learned framing, general building and renovation skills. During his summers off, he did the same under another contractor, back home on Long Island. It was under these contractors where he learned and mastered many of the skills in building, renovation and structural framing. He received a diverse on-the-job education, learning about different structures from different regions (upstate NY and Long Island).
In 2007, James was accepted into the New York City District Council of Carpenters Union where he attended a rigorous and demanding 4-year Trade School. While attending this Trade School, he sub-contracted under a family-owned home improvement business, doing plumbing, electrical, masonry and carpentry. With the training and education he received, he was able to master and perfect his carpentry and framing skills. The NYCDCCU has some of the most superior standards in the world and James was held to those standards when completing their Trade School. He received a priceless education from their program and has mastered a highly-regarded trade in the largest populated city in the country...an accomplishment that not many can obtain.
In 2016, James wanted to push his education even further. At this point, he had over 15 years of experience in building, structural framing and home improvement. He became a Master Carpenter learning from one of the best Trade Schools in the world. He built with expert precision, but he wanted to do more. He wanted to understand the other side of things. What to look for. What today's standards were. What the process was for home buyers. What things could be hidden, long after the building process was completed. So he attended a 140 hour Building Inspection course at The American Real Estate School in Hauppauge, NY. After successful completion of this course, along with a hands-on internship, James passed his certifying exam and became a New York State certified and licensed Home Inspector. Thus, Investment Inspection was born. With multiple inspectors, Investment Inspection can handle any and all assignments, while still maintaining that personal touch, as James always communicates with every single customer.
James Swan has 20 years of experience in the building industry. He is NOT an inspector who just took a course and started a business. He has a rock-solid foundation that started when he was 16 years old. Between life experience working with many contractors, college education, trade school, and apprenticeship, there is no better background for a quality Home Inspector. James has 20 years of building structures from start to finish, from the first nail hammered in to the final touch. When you know a structure and its components from the inside out, you have the right eye and knowledge to know a structure from the outside in (after it is constructed). Education and training has always been a priority for James and he strives to remain up to date with the latest information in the industry.
These are the skills and values that James instills in every member of his team. His standards and expectations are the highest in the business and every single team member follows that to perfection. It is these values, standards, and expectations, combined with background and education, that has created Long Island's #1 trusted source for residential and commercial building inspections.
